Your Impact

Your partnership through the Margaret Chen Leadership Initiative Fund drives one of our most transformative student experiences: the Community Impact Internship program. This summer, your support enabled four students to work alongside local nonprofit organizations, addressing critical community priorities in housing security, food access and mental health services.

These weren't traditional internships. Our students spent eight weeks embedded in community organizations, learning directly from practitioners who understand the root causes of inequality and the systems that perpetuate it. They supported food distributions, managed crisis hotlines, translated services for Spanish-speaking families, and helped connect residents with essential resources like furniture and household goods.

The impact flows both ways. Community partners gain dedicated support for their missions while students develop the kind of deep, nuanced understanding of social challenges that can't be taught in a classroom. They return to campus with clarity about their capacity to lead and a commitment to equity that shapes everything they do next.

Your investment creates these pivotal moments—when students move from learning about leadership to practicing it in real time, with real stakes, alongside real partners. Thank you for making that possible.
